Is Better Meals only for seniors?

While we specialize in providing convenient and nutritious meals tailored for seniors, our services extend to a broader audience. With a diverse menu catering to various dietary needs, Better Meals is suitable for anyone managing specific health conditions or anyone seeking a time-saving and health-conscious dining solution.

Where is Better Meals located?

Our office and commissary is located in Burnaby, British Columbia.

What areas do you provide delivery service to?

Our delivery services extend throughout the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley, Greater Victoria, Mid-Vancouver Island and into the Okanagan and Interior regions.

Why does Better Meals require a minimum order amount for delivery?

By establishing a minimum order amount, we can ensure that each delivery is economically viable. It contributes to operational efficiency, allowing us to not only maintain the quality and value of our product and service, but the ability to reach customers who may otherwise have no access to nutritional health.

Are all the meals made in-house?

All meals at Better Meals are prepared, cooked, and packaged on site in our commissary kitchen in Burnaby, ensuring freshness and quality. We do not use additives, MSG, or preservatives in our recipes, prioritizing wholesome ingredients for your health and satisfaction.

Does Better Meals offer customizable meals?

We prepare, cook, and package all our meals in bulk, often exceeding 1000 portions at a time. Due to this high volume production, we are unable to offer individually customized meals as tracking inventory on a per-meal basis becomes challenging under these circumstances.  

Do the meals you offer arrive fresh or frozen?

Our meals are freshly prepared, fully-cooked, and flash frozen to maintain quality and flavour. Additionally, we also offer a range of fresh salads, sandwiches, and other delectable items made ready for consumption within first few days days after delivery

About My Order

When do I need to place my order?

Orders need to be placed at least two business days ahead of your delivery date, before 2:00pm. However, during holidays and long weekends, we kindly request orders to be submitted at least three business days ahead, also before 2:00pm, to accommodate for processing time.

Can I place my order earlier than two business days ahead?

Absolutely, orders can be placed at any time! In fact, it is recommended that you place your order at least three business days ahead. That way should there be any problems 

How can I view and/or repeat a previous orders?

Your order history can be found in your Dashboard under “My Account” and clicking on “Orders”. To retrieve details on a specific order, simply click on “View”. You can reorder by scrolling down and clicking “Order Again”. 

How can I set up a recurring order?

3 compartment vs 2 portion sizing?

A selection of our entrées and individual meals are packaged in two-compartment containers, while others are served in three-compartment containers. This is to allow for the better placemenet of sides and help with heating times, so rest assured, regardless of the container type, portion sizes remain consistent and satisfying.

How do I place orders ahead for the next month?

When placing orders ahead for the next month (of few weeks), simply include in the comment section at Checkout that this order is for which week and we will do the rest!

About My Delivery

When will my meals be delivered?

The delivery day is determined based on the specific delivery address. Once you’re placed on the driver’s route, we will provide an approximate 2-hour delivery window of when to expect your driver.

Do I need to order every time my driver is in my area?

No, there is no monthly requirement or subscription to use our services. You can order as frequently or infrequently as needed. Our service offers flexibility without binding contracts, allowing you to tailor your preferences without the need for any long-term commitment. We do not believe in any mandatory memberships or subscriptions to ensure you the freedom to enjoy the convenience and benefits of Better Meals without any additional obligations

Is my 2-hour delivery window the same every week or whenever I place an order?

Your driver’s route is similar to a bus route. Depending on how many stops there are before arriving to you will vary as some customers may order every week, once every 2 weeks, once a month, or once every couple months. While we pride ourselves on flexibility and empowering you to choose when you want to cook or conveniently use our service, do expect your delivery to be within your given approximate 2-hour delivery window.

Can my delivery be delivered on a different day?

Unfortunately the delivery day is determined by the delivery address. If you have a neighbour or someone available to accept the meals on your behalf, kindly inform us! Alternatively, we can arrange for your driver to leave the meals in a secure location on your property for added convenience. Your satisfaction and ease of delivery are our priorities, and we’re here to accommodate your preferences.

My driver is late, where is my order?

While we provide a 2-hour delivery window of when to expect your driver, there are times when your driver could be running later than usual due to the unpredictable factors such as traffic, weather, and other client needs. Rest assured that we are committed to meeting your needs to the best of our ability.

I have difficulties receiving and putting away my meals. Can I ask for assistance?

Absolutely! If you wish, our drivers can call you ahead of their arrival and assist in putting away your meals upon request. Alternatively, if you prefer minimal contact, our drivers are flexible and can meet you in the lobby of your building or leave your meals in a secure location on your property. Just let us know your preference, and we’ll be happy to accommodate what suits you best.

What should I do if I missed my delivery?

We make every effort to reach you at delivery time. If you have specific instructions to ensure a smooth delivery, please inform our Order Desk in advance. In the event you miss your delivery, please contact us immediately, as we may be able to assist.

Shipping to another address?

If you want to order for someone else or wish to have your order delivered to a different address than the one on file, please update your registration details accordingly or contact our Order Desk to provide specific instructions. Please be aware that delivery to an alternate address may impact the estimated delivery time and day.

About My Meals

What do I do with my meals once I receive them?

Frozen meals should be stored directly in your freezer, while Fresh items like salads, sandwiches, and wraps should be refrigerated. Fresh items should be consumed within the first few days after delivery to ensure freshness. Our frozen meals can be stored in your freezer for up to 3 months, maintaining their quality and taste.

What are the portion sizes of the meals?

Portions are designed to suit the dietary needs of seniors, as advised by our dietitian. Expect servings of meat, fish, and chicken ranging from three to five ounces, ensuring a healthy and nutritional balance.

What are the dimensions of the containers?

The meal containers are approximately five inches by seven inches, and about an inch and half high. Soup and desserts are exactly half that size (3.5 x 5 x 1.5). 

Are the containers recyclable?

You can recycle our meal trays by placing them with your mixed plastic containers. Please ensure to rinse them out prior. This advice is given at the request of the provincial recycling authority.

How do I prepare my meals?

You will receive full heating instructions with your first delivery. Each meal container is labeled with a suggested microwave heating time, calculated for frozen meals. Please note that microwave settings and outputs may vary, so we suggest initially underheating rather than overheating until you determine the ideal time for your microwave and what works best for you. Alternatively, meals can be heated in the oven or toaster oven.

Where do I store my meals?

Meals will arrive frozen and should be stored in your freezer until ready to enjoy. Frozen meals can be stored in your freezer for up to 3 months for optimal quality. Fresh items are made just before delivery, should be refrigerated and consumed within the first few days of receiving them.

Can I refreeze my meals for later?

Do not refreeze your meals. If you cannot finish your portion, refrigerate it and finish it within twenty-four hours.
